Abdugodir Khusanov has signed a contract with Man City until the summer of 2029 after joining from French side Lens.

Manchester City have confirmed the signing of 20-year-old centre-back Abdugodir Khusanov from Lens on a four-and-a-half-year deal for £33.6m plus bonuses, the Ufabet reported on Monday.

‘This team is full of the best players in the world and I can’t wait to meet them and play with them,’ Kusanov said. ‘Pep Guardiola is certainly one of the greatest coaches of all time and I’m excited to learn from him and develop my skills even further.’

Meanwhile, Manchester City’s director of football Tsiki Bekiristain said of the Uzbekistan international: ‘Khusanov is already very intelligent, strong, aggressive and quick.’

Khusanov has made a rapid progression and has made 16 Ligue 1 appearances for Lens this season. He also scored his first goal for the club in a Coupe de France clash with Paris Saint-Germain in December. He has also made 18 appearances for Uzbekistan.

Guardiola is strengthening his squad this month after a difficult run of results which has left his side fourth in the table – 12 points behind leaders Liverpool.

City looked at their ruthless best at the weekend when they beat Ipswich Town 6-0 at Portman Road – their biggest Premier League victory of the season.

On Wednesday, they travel to the French capital to face PSG in the Champions League – needing a win to boost their chances of reaching the knockout stage.
